Knick’s
Tavern and Grill is owned by the father-daughter team of Knick
and Knickole Barger, who pull double duty as the owners of local
construction company, Youbar Builders. Youbar has built or renovated
over 40 area restaurants, and is responsible for creating the
charming, cozy atmosphere that characterized Knick’s Tavern
and Grill.
The Barger’s had an unique opportunity in late 2001 to
acquire an existing Sarasota restaurant called, Anthony’s
Italian Restaurant…and so the story began. By the end
of January 2002, the former Italian restaurant was completely
transformed into one of Sarasota’s most charming neighborhood
hangouts, Knick‘s Tavern and Grill. The interior finishes
host loads of various exotic wood, from the floor, ceiling beams,
bar, and even in the restrooms. Speaking of the bar, next time
your in, check out the bar stools and tables, which have a number
of name plaques. You might just recognize a few. Knick’s
Tavern and Grill is known as the area‘s “Cheers“…where
everyone knows your name!
Several of the staff at Knick’s Tavern and Grill has been
there since opening in January of 2002, without whom the restaurant
would not be what it is today. We at Knick’s consider
each other family and hope you do too!
